Education is the process by which a person acquires the knowledge, values, and skills that are conducive to a satisfying and meaningful life. By this definition, one could argue that conventional schooling significantly hinders education. Self-directed homeschooling clears the way for the education process to unfold naturally through curiosity, play, social engagement, and the drive for self-empowerment. But self-directed education (SDE) is a whole-life process - not limited to traditional "educational" activities.

When does homeschooling start? What are the best ways to prepare your preschooler or kindergartener for lifelong learning success? How do you introduce reading and math while still providing the essential play and activity that little ones need? With more parents looking at homeschooling at earlier ages, it's important to think about programs and methods especially geared toward the younger set.

The Superpower of Mindfulness

You can't always change the world around you, but you can change your body's and your mind's reaction to things that happen. This workshop offers an introduction to being mindful and learning ways to shift your internal reactions to the outside world. You will practice basic meditation skills, become aware of your own body’s dashboards, and redirect your thoughts to become more focused and less stressed. Effects are felt instantly as the mind quiets, the blood pressure lowers, and thoughts become clear.
